EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Blossom Beyond Foundation proposes the SafeNet Kids Botswana Program, an initiative aimed at equipping children aged 12–18 with critical knowledge and skills to safely navigate the digital world.

With increasing access to mobile devices and the internet in Botswana, children are becoming more vulnerable to cyberbullying, online scams, exploitation, and privacy risks. This project directly responds to these challenges by delivering structured, interactive training on online safety and responsible digital behavior.

The program aligns with BOCRA’s mandate of promoting ICT literacy, child online protection, and safe use of communications technologies.

BACKGROUND & JUSTIFICATION

The rapid growth of internet penetration in Botswana has created new opportunities for learning and communication. However, it has also exposed children to risks such as:

  • Cyberbullying
  • Online predators
  • Identity theft and scams
  • Exposure to harmful content

Many children lack the awareness and tools to protect themselves online. Schools and communities also have limited structured programs addressing these risks.

This project aims to bridge that gap by providing practical, accessible, and age-appropriate cyber safety education.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

Primary Objective

To empower children with knowledge and skills for safe, responsible, and confident internet use.
